Is August a good month to visit Ethiopia?
August sees the worst of the rainy season, with the heaviest downpours. Some lodges and campsites in the national parks will be closed, which limits how much of the country you can see.
There will also likely be disruptions in travel connections around the country as roads are bogged down and heavy rains disrupt domestic flight schedules.
The Omo Valley is a good place to be at this time of year as the rains have largely left this region, and community trekking in the Gheralta Mountains is very special in August.
