Itinerary

Day 1: Addis Ababa

Arrive in Addis Ababa. Head out on a city tour and introduction to Ethiopia. The city tour will take in a few highlights like the National and Ethnological museums, Trinity Cathedral and St George's Church and gallery.

Day 2: Omo Valley

Private transfer to the airport for a private charter flight down to the Omo Valley (2 hour flight to Murulle airstrip). Meet Lale, your experienced Omo Valley guide, and take a 30-minute boat cruise up to Lale’s Camp. Spend the afternoon visiting a body painting ceremony done by the Kara people around the village of Dus.

Day 3: Omo Valley

In the early morning, drive out to a Hamar village. Spend a few hours with the Hamar people, interacting and understanding their lifestyles. Return to camp for brunch by the Omo river. In the afternoon, visit the Kundama farm scheme which aims to help the Kara people deal with water loss from the damming of the Omo. Take a boat cruise back to camp in the evening, and do a bit of bird and wildlife watching on the river.

Day 4: Omo Valley

In the morning, hit the road and travel 3 hours up river to the southern boundary of the Mago National Park. Meet a group of Mursi and spend the day and evening with them in a secluded little campsite on the river's edge. In the late afternoon, take a boat cruise upriver looking for wildlife.

Day 5: Omo Valley

Travel back down river to Lale’s Camp, stopping en route at an ancient archaeological site looking for fossils. In the afternoon, walk across to a Nyangatom village on the west bank of the Omo river and visit one of the least understood tribes of the Omo Valley.

Day 6: Omo Valley

Drive across some beautiful Omo scenery, with routes flanked by Grants Gazelle and Lesser Kudu to reach the village of Omerate. Head into our campsite on the Omo Delta just above Lake Turkana. Take an evening boat cruise on to the upper reaches of Lake Turkana. 

Overnight: Delta Camp


Day 7: Omo Valley

Today we will visit the Dassenech villages. Return to camp for lunch under the shade, and enjoy an afternoon cruising down the river's channels in the Delta.

Day 8: Addis Ababa

Transfer to the airstrip for the charter flight from Omerate back to Addis Ababa. This takes about two hours. You'll be met at the airport by a driver for the transfer to your hotel. On your last evening in Ethiopia, head out to a restaurant for a farewell dinner, before being transferred to the airport for your international flight out.
